For TCS guys!!!

MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest software exporter, is effecting a small across-the-board cut in employee salaries based on the company’s performance in the third quarter, a move reflecting caution amid tough times for the outsourcing industry. A top company official confirmed the move while stock market analysts said TCS is sending signals that revenue growth has not met internal targets and employees can’t expect a big wage increase this year.

I know the comments will definitely disturb TCS'ers, especially freshers (people who have joined or yet to join). Let us hope for the best!!! Also preserve the right spirit to move ahead to reach the global top 10 :).

Is this what they call as "common enemy" logic?

Followed by continuing war between Microsoft and Google, this one is the latest.

Jan 29/2008:

SAN FRANCISCO — Yahoo said that it would cut 1,000 jobs from its 14,300-member work force by mid-February in an effort to cut costs and focus on its most important businesses.

Yahoo said its fourth-quarter net income fell to $206 million, a 23-percent decline from $269 million in the same quarter a year ago, as the company continued to struggle to compete with Google and others.

Feb 1 /2008:

Microsoft has proposed to acquire Yahoo! through an open letter sent by Steve Ballmer to Yahoo’s board of Directors. The deal will be valued at $44.6 billion in cash and stock. This deal breaks down to $31 per stock, providing a 62% premium to the current trading price of Yahoo’s stock ($19.18 as on thursday).

"We have great respect for Yahoo, and together we can offer an increasingly exciting set of solutions for consumers, publishers and advertisers while becoming better positioned to compete in the online services market," said Microsoft's chief executive officer Steve Ballmer.

"We believe our combination will deliver superior value to our respective shareholders and better choice and innovation to our customers and industry partners," Balmer said.

Words of a YAHOO employee.

"Everyone sees Microsoft as the big octopus from 20,000 Leagues under the Sea that wants to swallow everybody up"

First post

This is a new blog* (Can hear your reply that you know :) ). Thought of blogging something informative or in a way that will help me learning to post one. The blog will have frequent (will try my best) posts on religious topics, political or social issues, technical topics and finally some general topics to fill in the space. Its not to preach or support anyone's view. Just to analyse issues in a neutral way.

I would like write on religious topics which have scientific significance, for example: We use Mangifera indica (mango) leaves garland on special days when many gather. The theories or reasons i have heard, read about this are 1. Generally green leaves help in photosynthesis. So it helps the place from suffocation.
2. The constituent of mango leaves mixes with air and performs anti-bacterial action (mangiferin and its byproducts).

There are people who contradict this, so i feel googling wont be enough to conclude. Lets have a discussion(forum), experts opinion to conclude. There are many other social/political issues like aryan Vs dravidian,is communism practical in todays world and so many. You wont believe that i gave up starting this blog twice or thrice when i wrote this first post. Was thinking whether it would be of any use to anyone. Will try my best to make it useful.

Yes its indeed dry, so would also have some masala/general posts in between.

*Basic truth is i am vetti.
